This is the reason feedback.ryver. com/topics/165-chat-that-utilizes-pageupdn-homeend
Just to make sure this is what you meant, home/end should not move you to the top/bottom of the chat message box but the start/end of a line of text like in most applications with text input.
Something like this might help a bit with your problems play.google. com/store/apps/details?id=com.autostart

That seems like it could be a good way to do it as for message maybe handle it a bit like other im clients handles it. By that I mean a message saying something like "sending file X" and then either another message or change it to file x received when the transfer is complete.
Another way to do this would be to somehow allow blocks of rich text to be added kind of like you would attach an image.
There's always services like vocaroo.com in the meantime.
Use the block syntax like this:
```
Pasted text
```
It has syntax highlighting for code but works fine for any text.
This is how it looks for me:
What you see in the box is what is generated if I click reply on the second of the two messages above. If you click help > about it should say Ryver 1.1.6 (at least for the Windows client).

Haven't tried it but you can likely setup something manually with zapier. com/help/email/
