The person who will be implementing custom Eddy responses has been working on Webhook support and OAuth 2 authentication recently, but that appears to be getting very close, as we are now testing it in-house. I'm hoping to get that person back on Eddy at the end of the year for some nice enhancements.
Ok, yes...we've been saying "coming soon" for way too long now on Webhooks. We finally really are getting Webhook support implemented, and have started testing it in-house. We will be supporting the Slack formatting for webhook payloads as well, so that should help with compatibility with existing solutions out there.
As mentioned by Andreas, you can hold down the shift key when pressing Return to do a multi-line chat message, which is how people are entering code snippets. You just need to surround your code with lines above and below that contain three back-ticks.
We are now starting to look at an improved WYSIWYG editor for chat, posts and comments, and we will look into providing more of a one-click way of entering a code snippet. Perhaps popping up a dialog that you can put your code in, and then posting the chat message with it automatically surrounded by the proper back-tick formatting.
We have been getting different opinions from customers on how this area of administration should work. At the moment, we're leaning towards having our free product include the ability for an Admin to:
1. See a list of all existing teams, and who created them.
2. Archive and/or Delete those teams
Then in our premium enterprise/pro tier coming in 2017, make it so a "super admin" can also access all of the content, even in private teams they did not create. This is something that an IT staff can already do with their corporate email systems. We would likely want to add something to the UI to let people know that an Administrator is/was looking at the content, so that people know if they are being "spied on".
For the first round of work, we are first going to finish up a significant chat server update that will allow us to improve notifications, and introduce Webhook integration support, likely taking us to the end of 2016, then we will begin another round of Administrative improvements, which this will be part of.
We reviewed these requests, and for the time being, I don't see us prioritizing complex custom profile options in the free Ryver service. We will be doing a lot of work in the first half of 2017 on a Pro/Enterprise tier that includes things like Single Sign-On for user management, and some more advanced Administrative features for IT staff. I expect some of the scenarios here to fit into that effort, and we'll see what we can trickle down into the free service.
We are so far unable to reproduce issues with Android not receiving notifications. But we've heard a few reports of it from users now (just a few, but the reports seem viable). If you contact support about this issue, we will continue trying to find a reason...perhaps a particular OS/Phone combination. The more info we can get the better, as this has been a tough one to track down.
Certainly, if your desktop app for some reason keeps you showing as "Available" (green), then you will not get push notifications, but it doesn't sound like that's the issue here.
Marking this as completed since we do have the option now to not auto-generate the chat messages. Regarding the last couple of comments...
I'm not sure about auto-deleting chat messages following a promote. That could cause the chat stream to look odd, and not everybody would want that. However, perhaps that could be an option at the time you do the promote to post.
We're starting to get more requests to have an option to hide either Chat or Post on a per-team/forum basis. We will be looking into that, and some other options such as only allowing Team Admins to add posts.
Thanks for the link! That's an interesting polling UI. We still want to add a built-in polling option but haven't managed to work it up to the top of the priority list yet. I've seen customers work around it by doing things like:
1. Create a Post describing the poll
2. Create a comment with each option
3. Up-vote the comment or comments containing the options you like
The idea was to keep distractions to a minimum in the content area, with full date on hover and also the full date separators to indicate that fuller context. So that as you read through the discussion, you're mostly reading the content. I noticed that some competing products have even dropped down to only showing the time, and not even the day of the week now.
But this is still a fair request, and we can take another look. At the very least, it does seem to make sense that we would show the full date in the chat search archives.
